One of the more congenial settings for conducting a professional tasting of Baden Pinot Noir is perched on a hill among the vines overlooking the village of Tiefenbach in the Kraichgau.
In September 2024, Stephan Reinhardt from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate led the group, with producers in attendance. My sommelier's eyes bleed with envy when I read the list of stunning Burgundies poured alongside Heitlinger and Burg Ravensburg's GGs. Flights two and five must've been a couple of doozies, and what I wouldn't have done to taste 2019 Grivot Echezeuax (one of my favorites in Vosne) next to 2019 Heitlinger Wormsberg GG (a wine which could easily be mistaken for Vosne Grand Cru). Alas, I'll settle for reading Reinhardt's reviews of Heitlinger and Burg Ravensburg and twist Claus' arm to do it for me all over again in the Kraichgau.
